A word about Aurora Borealis (A/B)...

If you're tempted to do an entire headpiece in crystal aurora borealis stones, be warned - this is not a look for the faint-of-heart. A/B crystals have a rainbow coating on them that when used in large quantities produce a piece about as subtle as a train wreck. A light sprinkle makes a fanciful accent - an abundance and we're talking disco queen.

This is not the same case as in A/B matte glass, whose iridescence is restrained by its dulled texture. Matte A/B is also referred to as "ghost finish," and an entire headpiece made in this finish can be beautiful without looking garish.
